Client: Dion Wired Mall, Johannesburg

Industry: Retail

Objective: To increase the reach of the company newsletter and excite people to become registered users

Product:MotionMagix™ Interactive Wall with Microsoft Kinect Tracking

Brief: Businesses view newsletters as an extremely valuable marketing tool. In the retail industry especially, newsletters help in maintaining contact with customers, create awareness regarding the brand and products, help in brand positioning and allow people stay better informed about the business. However, what if the contact base of customers was ever increasing? What if there was a huge target audience sitting right at the doorstep but you had no idea how to reach out to them?
Dion Wired store, one of South Africa’s premier consumer electronics and appliance concept store, aims at staying connected. They realized that they could reach a much larger number of people and generate more sales if their newsletter reader base would increase. Since not all the walk –in customers of the store were registered users, Dion Wired needed to come up with an innovative solution to bring the newsletter to all the people who visited them. To help them achieve this TouchMagix installed a 56 inch LED full HD screen MotionMagix™ Interactive Wall at the store powered by Kinect Microsoft gesture technology. We created a template for their newsletter which could be displayed on this MotionMagix™ Interactive Wall. The visitors could take a look at the latest products and innovations and could scroll up or down and even click on the displayed content using gestures. The people walking into the store were extremely impressed with the huge display and the cutting edge gesture technology. They scrolled though the newsletter getting informed about all the latest products and store deals with a lot of interest because of the immersive quality of the display. This installation generated was quite a buzz amongst the store goers and was a huge success since it saw people queuing up to view the latest products on offers and also witnessed quite a large number registering to receive their newsletters online as well!

Impact: TouchMagix’s interactive display and cutting edge technology helped in displaying content in a very engaging format that generated a lot of interest amongst customers and encouraged them to become registered users of the store.

Example of great branding exercise by Promoting an Online property for kids in the Offline world.

Client: Worldoo

Industry: Online Entertainment

Objective: Promoting an Online property for kids in the Offline world.

Product: MotionMagix™ Interactive Wall

Brief:

One of the fastest growing and hardest to impress demographics in the entertainment segment is children. With the elevated exposure that kids have, it becomes imperative to design entertainment to match their intellect. The internet, thus, has become a go-to for most kids and parents in search of entertainment and games. Making such online content more child driven is Worldoo, an online portal where kids can experience a virtual world where they can play age appropriate games and learn new and exciting things. In their promotional event with Hamleys across four locations, Worldoo used the power of TouchMagix’s Interactive Technology to bring this fantasy world to life. Kids played the Worldoo ‘Home’ game, an Augmented Reality 3D game using the power of TouchMagix’s gesture tracking technology. The aim of the game was for participants to decorate a room displayed on the MotionMagix™ Interactive Wall as aesthetically and creatively as possible. Different objects such as furniture, appliances etc. were placed around the room and the children had to drag and drop them into place using gestures. They could also choose different layouts, wall colors and interiors to create their personalized 3D home.

Once the layout was complete the kids could post the pictures of their creations on the Worldoo Facebook page and solicit ‘likes’ to win. This helped to establish a great offline-online connect. The promotion saw great and enthusiastic participation from kids owing to the interactive content and also ensured high visibility that went beyond the physical space.

Impact: : The event saw great participation because of its engaging content and also proved to be a great branding exercise by establishing an offline-online connect.

Creating buzz with interactive display and attracting potential buyers to explore the new offering from Nokia.

Client: Nokia Priority Store

Industry: Mobile Retail

Objective: To create a window display that educates and creates awareness using interactive technology

Product: MotionMagix™ Interactive Wall

Nokia mobiles are back and how! The Nokia X series smartphones definitely belong to the next generation smartphone category. So when a Nokia Priority Dealer in Mumbai decided to showcase this smartphone, the window display could be nothing less than a showstopper. Using the MotionMagix™ Interactive Wall, a large 65 inch LED screen with a 3D depth sensor with ‘through the glass’ gesture and silhouette tracking technology became the store’s window display. Unlike most stores where the display shut when the store closed, this display was live 24X7. Displayed on the screen were a number of Nokia X apps and interacting with those apps was a shadow. The apps on the screen were static and became dynamic as soon as someone passed past or stopped in front of the display. The ‘through the glass’ gesture tracking technology enabled people to interact with the shadow and play games and use the several other apps displayed on the screen using silhouette tracking technology. The unique nature of the content displayed on the window managed to generate a huge amount of interest among the crowd and also managed to showcase the unique capabilities of the new Nokia smartphone in an engaging format. The window display for this Nokia store, much like the tagline for the Nokia X, was definitely ‘not like everyone else’.

Impact: The display generated a lot of buzz regarding the smartphone and encouraged potential buyers to explore the new offering from Nokia

Annual GCC Traffic Week in Qatar, visitors played a racing game on a MotionMagix™ Interactive Wall while learning about traffic safety.

Client: Qatar Police

Industry: Public / Government Services

Objective: To drive road and traffic awareness in an interactive manner

Product: MotionMagix™ Interactive Wall

Brief: The prosperity of the Gulf countries has brought with it a mini crisis on the roads. The authorities across the region are cognizant of the problem and among the many initiatives they have taken to try and improve the situation is the annual GCC Traffic Week. Held in Darb El-Saai the event this year saw enthusiastic participation from a number of government and other bodies with a stake in the issue. The Qatar Police was prominent among the participants. Their thrust was on creating awareness about road safety, reducing accidents and finding solutions to traffic problems. The approach was to target the youth and the young ones with a traffic exhibition, a safe driving simulator and games. A big hit with the visitors was an interactive racing game played on a MotionMagix™ Interactive Wall. The visitors could use their moves and gestures to control their cars and race through the course – while learning about traffic safety of-course. What better way to drive home these rather dry concepts into the consciousness of the visitors.

Impact: The Interactive game played a big role in re-enforcing the traffic and road safety concepts among the visitors.

TouchMagix recreated a soccer stadium experience in Kidzania Mumbai with MotionMagix™ Interactive Wall that served as the goal net.

Client: Kidzania

Industry: Kids, Entertainment

Objective: To leverage the full capabilities of Interactive technologies to provide an extremely engaging experience for kids

Product: MotionMagix™ Interactive Wall

Brief: Brand marketers, event managers and everyone associated with the business of attracting and retaining the interest of customers will agree that the toughest audience to cater to is kids. Their standards are impossibly high at the best of times and even more so when gaming technology is concerned . This was the challenge facing Kidzania, a unique role-playing experience targeting kids, when they were recreating a soccer stadium experience at their Mumbai outlet. The kids signing up for training to become “professional footballers” in the Kidzania world were no exception to this rule especially because they were spending their own money, well “Kidzoes”. A Real soccer ball, a real goal post and real “professional” players taking shots at targets showing up on the screen while being measured for their speed, accuracy and response times do not leave much tolerance for error in the MotionMagix™ Interactive Wall that serves as the goal net. The degree of difficulty and the accuracy demanded of the Wall rose with the age of the players. This was serious stuff for the kids – after-all they did get a detailed “system printed” report card mentioning every detail of their effort down to the last fraction of a second. The Psuedo-Touch Sensing technology we used here was up to the task though. The near-real life experience extended to the extreme care taken in mapping the virtual net to the real goal post down to the last nail – as most will agree nothing is too good for the kids!

Impact: The exacting standards of the children were met by combing the capabilities of the technology and the extreme attention to detail during deployment.
